UD Las Palmas returns from their first away trip with a 2-1 loss to CD Leganés. The team displayed two different performances in the match at Butarque. In the first half, they were dominant and had several chances to take the lead. However, in the second half, Leganés scored both their goals.

Sandro Ramírez netted his second goal of the season in the final moments. He nearly equalized in stoppage time, but his powerful shot was saved by Soriano.

Coach Luis Carrión made two changes to the starting eleven from the opening game for the visit to Leganés. Scott McKenna and Sandro replaced Loiodice and Jaime Mata, respectively. There was also a tactical adjustment on the right flank, with Álex Suárez positioned behind winger Marvin Park.

Las Palmas created the first danger within just 5 minutes. McBurnie made a run down the right and delivered a cross that Sandro attempted to volley. The ball was heading towards the goal but was caught by goalkeeper Juan Soriano.

Neither team wanted to make mistakes with their passes, which might explain why the game was cautious for long periods. However, Las Palmas came close again in the 18th minute with a double effort from McBurnie and Sandro. The first shot was saved at the last moment by Soriano, while the second was deflected for a corner by defender Rosier.

The battle for control was intense, but Las Palmas showed more intent than their opponents to score the opening goal. Oli McBurnie had another chance in the 38th minute. The Scot controlled a ball from Sandro with his chest and attempted a shot, but again, goalkeeper Juan Soriano made a timely save, preventing what seemed like a certain goal.

The most critical moment of the first half came in the 41st minute, when a long ball from the local goalkeeper led to a quick transition. Brasanac managed a shot in the area, but the ball hit the right post of Cillessen.

The situation could have worsened at the start of the second half. The referee awarded a penalty for a challenge by Sandro on Oscar in the visitors' area. De Burgos pointed to the spot, and VAR did not overturn the decision. However, Jasper Cillessen kept things as they were by saving Raba’s penalty.

Las Palmas could not replicate the strong performance from the first half in the second period. Additionally, they conceded two goals that made the final part of the match very difficult. A long-range shot from Juan Cruz and a counterattack finished by Franquesa put Leganés ahead 2-0.

Sandro, with a pass from McBurnie, reduced the deficit to 2-1. However, the yellow goal proved insufficient despite the players’ efforts to at least secure a draw.
