The "UD Elder eStadium" is now a reality, having been set up at the Museo Elder. The inaugural event took place this morning, bringing together different institutions and a large crowd there to support the virtual world.
The presentation began with the signing of the agreement between th Government of the Canary Islands, represented by President Fernando Clavijo, and the Spanish Olympic Committee, represented by Alejandro Blanco. The "UD Elder eStadium" was then revealed, which will be the site for gamers and fans in general, promoted by UD Las Palmas Foundation and the Elder Foundation, where they will be able to enjoy some fine facilities for responsible digital leisure and entertainment activities.
The director general of UD Las Palmas, Patricio Viñayo, began the tour around this new gaming centre, pointing out that "as a club we have been developing this activity for several years now. To make the most of this type of technological revolution, we mustn’t just teach the kids but also make their parents aware".
Patricio Viñayo stressed the learning process the club wants to provide in terms of eSports in the virtual community: "Within this new phenomenon it is important to listen to both positive and negative criticism and ideas from everyone involved".
The UD Elder eStadium began with a virtual football match between the President of the Government and one of the members of the community of UDLP eSports, Mario Yeroud.
For all professional and amateur players of eSports, the facilities will remain open this week at the Elder Museum, and will be open in to museum’s normal timetable.
