A courageous UD Las Palmas loses 0-2 without lowering their arms.

The famous 40-point threshold for theoretical permanence in La Liga will have to wait one more matchday. Because this Sunday, UD Las Palmas lost 0-2 against Sevilla, in a match that was conditioned from its origins by the early expulsion of Saúl Coco.

García Pimienta's side rebelled against adverse circumstances, fought until the 95th minute, but was unable to secure at least a draw they deserved for their courage and effort. Only the goals of En Nesyri and Lukébakio were added to the scoreboard, the latter in stoppage time.

The match began with a significant setback in UD Las Palmas' plans. Saúl Coco was sent off with a straight red card in his first defensive action. The defender collided with attacker Isaac Romero, who fell to the ground. The referee initially showed a yellow card, but the VAR recommended the red card, leading to the expulsion of the Las Palmas player.

The Gran Canarian players and fans were not convinced by this decision, which largely influenced the match. Nevertheless, the local players continued with the planned strategy, attempting to gain possession and push forward.

The yellow team's coach reconstructed the lineup by placing Álex Suárez in the center of defense, while Marvin Park moved back a few meters to the right-back position.

Attacker Romero was the protagonist of Sevilla's most incisive actions in the first half. He eluded the Gran Canarian defenders twice and faced Aaron Escandell, but missed the target on both occasions.

However, before halftime, Sevilla dealt a blow with their goal. It was En Nesyri who headed in a cross from the left side. Escandell couldn't reach the ball in his stretch.

Despite the adverse scoreline and numerical disadvantage, Las Palmas continued with the same intention in the second half. Sandro had two opportunities to equalize. In the 57th minute, he struck the post from outside the box. And in the 64th minute, he troubled Nyland with a long direct free-kick, forcing him to deflect it for a corner.

The yellow team's irreverence was appreciated by their fans, as everything was happening close to the Naciente goal, where Escandell was positioned.

Las Palmas did not ease off and continued to cover each of their offensive plays with risk. And it was in stoppage time when, after a counterattack, Lukébakio pounced on a rebound from Escandell to seal the match with a 0-2 scoreline.
