Las Palmas and Osasuna repeat the scoreline from the first leg (1-1)
Points shared at the Estadio de Gran Canaria. UD Las Palmas and Osasuna on the island ended in a 1-1 draw, just like in the first leg match played in Pamplona. The Navarrese team scored first, and later Kirian equalized with an extraordinary shot.
The yellows continue to navigate far from danger, at the same distance as in the previous matchday, but with one game less on the calendar. The match served as the debut for UD Las Palmas' latest signing, José Campaña, who participated in the final minutes.
UD Las Palmas observed how their opponents organized on the field from the first movement of the ball, with three lines (5-3-2). Osasuna players faced the local maneuvers with the ball, intending to protect the most dangerous areas from the opponents' passes.
Nevertheless, García Pimienta's starters quickly found some profiles to carry out their plays. In the 5th minute, Marvin Park managed to enter the area with an advantage, touched the ball, and was brought down after contact with goalkeeper Herrera. That move deserved a VAR review and the referee's attention, which ultimately ruled it a corner kick and not a penalty.
Las Palmas continued with their game plan and in the following minutes managed to place new balls in the area, with a header from Sergi Cardona as the most notable attempt. The ball crossed the small area and went next to the post.
The match got stuck in the middle of the field for many minutes, while Osasuna also pushed their lines forward. It was a battle of attrition, with many actions going back and forth but few finishing opportunities. The intense start gradually faded until halftime.
In the last play of the first half, Moleiro once again asked referee Munuera Montero for a VAR review. A move from the Tenerife player ended in a cross and contact with the hand of a Navarrese defender. However, the match officials considered that the ball had touched the visiting player's hand naturally, rejecting the second penalty appeal.
The first six minutes of the second half saw changes in the scoreline. First, Osasuna took the lead, then Las Palmas equalized. And in both actions, with two high-quality shots.
Unai García made it 0-1 with a half-volley, following a play from his teammate Johan Mojica. And three minutes later, Kirian Rodríguez - his sixth goal of the season - leveled the score, finishing with a low half-volley a cross from his teammate Sergi Cardona.
Sergio Herrera, the visiting goalkeeper, blocked with his body in the 57th minute a bicycle kick from Álex Suárez, who sought another goal adventure. That could have been the best local opportunity for the remainder of the match, which returned to the thickness of what was experienced in the first half.
The score remained unchanged, and the best news in that final stretch was Campaña's debut with the Gran Canaria shirt.
