Las Palmas faced La Nucia with an eleven that had been refreshed after their League matches. In addition, two players from the academy make their debuts: Joaquín González and Saliou Mandiang.

There were few opportunities in the first half, with Fer Pina and Joaquín González having the finest moments for their respective clubs.

In the 29th minute, Ismael got deep into the Gran Canaria box, completing his team's rapid counterattack. Alex Dominguez, though, had control of his shot.

The response from UD Las Palmas came later, in the 39th minute, following a steal and raid by Florin Andone. The Romanian crossed into Joaquín's boots, who finished off a cross, missing the ball near to Valens' post.

At the start of the second half, Moleiro and Pejiño were the first two visiting substitutions. And both created the following two plays in the first three minutes of the restart, in the same order. Moleiro fired from the edge into Valens' hands, while Pejiño struck over the crossbar from distance.

Las Palmas gained ground on La Nucia's goal, sending the ball down the field towards Jaume Valens.

However, certain preparations were thwarted when Enrique Clemente was sent off via red card. It was minute 77, and Las Palmas had to confront the last stretch with fewer players on the pitch, with Garcia Pimienta taking away debutant Joaquin to bring on Saul Coco.

The score remained unchanged, and the goalless draw was followed by extra time, in which the stoppage of the local Rubén Sáiz (for a harsh tackle on Pejiño) restored balance to the game.

Everything was set for the penalty shootout roulette, and La Nucia had one more hit than the yellows.
